acum ceva vreme, in timpul unei clase de dimineata, am fost intrebat ce este ujjayi.. si dupa un mic proces in care realizam constrangerea duratei de a exprima ce este mai esential despre aceasta tehnica din pranayama am zis ca voi reveni ulterior cu mai multe informatii..


Sumarizare personala

eu ii zic mereu respiratia invingatorului si fac deseori apel la sunetul pe care il fac cei ce practica anumite arte martiale, acea expiratiei ascutita, controlata, puternica ca si tipatul unui soim

insa asta este doar o dimensiune a respiratiei ujjayi, ceva ce va veni ulterior dupa un anumit nivel de practica.. De ce insist pe idea cu invingatorului sau razboinicului, pentru ca aceasta respiratie retine energia in corp.

Ujjayi pe de alta parte o alta asemanare de care ne folosim cand explicam acesta tehnica, este o respiratie lenta dar asemanatoare cu cea a cainelui

 

Observand aici gatuiala respiratiei – doar ca spre deosebire de caini noi o vom realiza exclusiv pe nas. In ambele situatii se va observa o relaxare a sistemului nervos (in urma unei supra-solicitari fizice, alti factori de stress, inducand inclusiv la racorirea corpului).

Deci avem un razboinic, care va invinge prin retentia de energie, luciditatea din desfasurarea luptei prin relaxarea sistemului nervos (mentinand dubla activare a emisferelor cerebrale) si racorirea in spatele unei actiuni ce are tendinta sa ridice temperatura in corp.

Dar cel mai des aceasta tehnica este cunoscuta sub numele de Respiratia Oceanului (Ocean Breath), trimitand atentia pe cele doua momente, flux si reflux. Momentul inspiratie semanan cu sunetul provocat de retragerea lenta a apei, strecurarea ei prin nisip (control, purificare) si caderea valului.

Pentru aceasta inregistrare am dus microfonul castilor in cavitatea bucala si fara sa piperez intr-o forma respiratia sa fie mai lunga sau mai sonora am incercat sa va ilustrez inspiratia denumirii.

5 respiratii Ujjayi reprezinta deseori timpul de pastrare a unei posturi in asana, insa 5 respiratii Ujjayi realizate corect vor aduce acele 2 minute pe care la inceput multi le considera insuportabile

The prefix ‘ud’ means to lift up and ‘jaya’ a salutation. Ujjayi can be translated as ‘victorious’ as the
lungs are fully expanded and the chest thrust out like a mighty conqueror.
Ujjayi is one of the principal pranayamas, not only in itself, but because of its application in the
practice of asana.

Technique:
Contract the muscles at the base of the neck and inhale. The friction of the air at the glottis causes a
gentle snoring sound. The contraction of the glottis constricts the passages through which the air
passes. Inhalation takes place with the abdomen controlled; the breath must be slow and mainly thoracic.
When the diaphragm has descended enough to meet the growing resistance of the controlled
abdominal belt, an effort is made to take in as much air as possible by lifting and opening the ribs.
Exhalation begins at the abdomen and then continues out from the chest and collar bones. Mulabandha
can also be engaged to increase the movement of prana in the higher chakras. With this
technique find a equal rhythm of breathing and apply to the ujjayi breath, starting from inhaling 3
counts and exhaling 3. Increase as you feel ready

• Calms the nervous system and yet gently energises the body
• It can create a subtle heating and purifying affect to the body

• Increases pressure in the lungs thereby helping maintain their elasticity
• Induces more heat in the body
• Compression of the abdominal organs stimulates manipura
• Contraction of the glottis activates vishuddha chakra

Interiorisation:
Concentrate on keeping the sound of the breath even, regular and steady and visshudha chakra.

Contra-indications:
• Should not be over practiced by introverted people
• Practitioners with excess pita should be careful to not agitate heat in the body
